Cathy A.R. Brant (she, her) is an Assistant Professor of Equity in Teacher Education in the Department of
Early Childhood, Elementary Education & Critical Foundations at Rowan University. Dr. Brant’s
research focuses on issues of equity, social justice and multicultural education in PreK-16 schools.
Specifically, she is interested in LGBTQ+ inclusion in the teacher preparation program, and in social
studies education. Dr. Brant has published her research in The Journal of Social Studies Research, Social
Studies & the Young Learner, Social Studies Research & Practice, The Educational Forum, and Action
in Teacher Education. She has co-edited two books published by Information Age Press: It’s Being Done
in Social Studies: Race, Class, Gender and Sexuality in the Pre/K-12 Curriculum and Teaching the
Teachers: LGBTQ Issues in Teacher Education. She is the editor of the International Social Studies
Forum: The Series book series, published by Information Age Press.
