Megan Kaplinsky, professor of Education and Reading at Long Beach City College in California, works with diverse students to explore teaching as a career and avenue for social change. She serves as coordinator of teacher preparation for the Tomorrow's Teachers Program. Prior to coming to teach at her alma mater, she worked in local school districts as an elementary classroom teacher and literacy specialist, as well as in secondary education teaching life science and social science.
Megan received her Associate of Arts from Long Beach City College, Bachelor of Arts in sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles, Master of Arts degree in Human Development and teaching credential from Pacific Oaks College, and Master of Arts degree in Education and specialist credential from California State University, Long Beach. Megan is the Past President of the Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs (ACCCTEP) and Ambassador for the National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs (NACCTEP). She is also a member of the TEACH Los Angeles Regional Collaborative.
