Laytora Dash is a doctoral candidate in Special Education focusing on Academically and
Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Education at UNC Charlotte. A veteran teacher of 15 years in Title I
schools, she researches equitable gifted identification, specifically advocating for gifted Black
children and twice-exceptionality. She is a 2023-2025 AACTE Holmes Scholar, 2020 NAGC
Javits-Frasier Scholar, and a dedicated NAGC Convention Committee and NC CEC-TAG Board
Member, actively presenting at conferences and supporting diversity initiatives. With deep
expertise in culturally responsive pedagogy and a passion for educational equity, Laytora
contributes to innovative scholarship to dismantle systemic barriers in gifted education.
