Dr. Sara Skretta, a dedicated educator, leader, and advocate for high-quality educator preparation, currently serves as the Senior Director of Accreditation, Placement & Licensure and Certification Officer at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), Dr. Skretta has spent over 30 years in education, shaping the future of teaching and learning at local, state, and national levels. She began her career as a high school English teacher and coach before transitioning into administration. Her passion for education and talent for leadership propelled her into roles such as human resources executive before she later returned to her alma mater, UNL, where she plays a vital role in ensuring high standards for educator preparation programs.
Dr. Skretta serves as the President of the Nebraska Council of Teacher Education, Co-Chair of the AACTE Membership Committee, and a member of the American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA) Legislative Committee. She is a past President of the Nebraska Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (NACTE) and has co-chaired the Nebraska State Educator Shortage Steering Committee. Additionally, she has facilitated AASPA's National Educator Shortage Summits, addressing critical issues in the education workforce.
Active in numerous professional organizations, Dr. Skretta’s contributions reflect her commitment to collaboration and innovation in education. Her dedication is inspired by her personal connections to the field, as the wife of a school administrator and the mother of boys. and she strives to create pathways for aspiring educators while advocating for solutions to pressing challenges in the profession.
