Dr. Cordelia A Yates is married to Floyd Mitchell Yates, and they have five beautiful children. Dr. Yates has taught in both public and private schools and has worked in underserved communities throughout the East Bay Area of California and among the migrant workers of the Salinas Valley in the California Central Coast region. Dr. Yates taught at an elementary and Middle school, a continuation school, and a comprehensive high school of over 4000 students. She progressed her career to become a school administrator. As an administrator, she worked as a special education program Coordinator, Special Education administrator, Assistant school principal, and learning director. Currently, she works at Morningside University as an Assistant professor of Education. She teaches primarily preservice teachers in the undergraduate program during the normal semester and graduate students during the summertime.
Dr. Yates research has focused on teacher education and inclusion. Her work has shed light on crucial issues in the field of education, in her publications such as Co-teaching: Loss of Professional Space from the Perspectives of special education and general education teachers published in scholarly commons with over 700 readerships; Lead Researcher: Yates, C.; Co-researcher: Glackin, C. Di); Yates, Equity, and Inclusion: An Evaluation of University/College Teacher Preparation and Inclusion Courses, SPECIAL EDUCATION RESEARCH, POLICY & PRACTICE (2023 Edition, Volume 7);Yates, C: Are We Creating More Teacher Confusion About Culturally Responsive and Inclusive Teaching? IOWA ASCD-THE SOURCE for Instructional Leadership, Volume 23, Number 21, December 2023; Yates, C. Can Teacher Attrition and Shortage in the United States of America be Ameliorated by Teacher Agency and Autonomy? an evaluation of k-12 teachers’ perspectives. A Quantitative Research Study Submitted to Journal of Critical Questions in Education in January 2024. The research was reviewed and considered fitting for possible publication. Currently undergoing blind peer review for 60 days; School Parent Collaboration Textbook: Work in progress to be completed by the end of this year. Also, she is the publisher of the novel, “Beyond the Continent” available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
