Director of Trauma-Informed Education

Dr. Burdick is the Director of Trauma-Informed Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Education. She got her PhD in Special Education, focusing on trauma and trauma-informed education. Dr. Burdick's most recent research examined the experience of faculty and clinical field supervisors in integrating equity-centered, trauma-informed content in an existing Elementary Education pre-service teacher preparation program. She is currently working with a team to develop and implement a master's degree concentration in trauma-informed education at the University of Illinois.
Prior to her current position, Dr. Burdick served as the Elementary Education Program Coordinator for teacher licensure, edTPA Coordinator, and Technology Integration Specialist. She came to the university after teaching third and fourth grade in a Central Illinois school district where she researched and built the district's technology program.
