Chabot College
Alice Hale came to the field of education after a long career in communications and
consumer health education. She has worked as a preschool teacher, an Early Childhood Professional Development and at First 5 Alameda County as a preschool
rater where she developed communication tools and strategies for the implementation
of Alameda County Quality Counts.
At Chabot College, Professor Hale is the program coordinator for the Early Childhood Development program, one of the largest career education programs on campus, with 500 majors, 4 degrees and 8 certificates of completion. She was instrumental in the Early Childhood Development AA degree earning accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. She has also been a program lead for the college Guided Pathways efforts, developing and executing the mapping of all programs across the college.
Ms. Hale's work at Chabot has included the development of a K-12 teacher pathway.
Under her leadership, Chabot has participated in a regional consortium of teacher
preparation programs, presented at Teach for the Bay conferences, and has mapped transfer pathways to both private and public 4-year programs. In 2021, Chabot college was awarded a California Apprenticeship Innovation grant for the development of an early childhood apprenticeship program with two of the major employers in the area. Professor Hale has coordinated the development of this apprenticeship with 2 cohorts completing the program and another cohort slated to begin in Fall 2024.
