Dr. Susan Keesey, Associate Professor, currently serves as Director of the School of Teacher Education at Western Kentucky University (WKU). Prior to assuming her new role, Dr. Keesey taught for seven years in WKU’s TopPrep clinical model where she supervised and mentored the dual-certification elementary/special education undergraduate students. She also taught graduate courses in special education methods and specialized in literacy instruction for struggling readers.
Dr. Keesey received her Ph.D. in Special Education/Applied Behavior Analysis from The Ohio State University. Her teaching/research interests include literacy instruction for struggling readers and effective practices in teacher preparation. Prior to earning her Ph.D., Susan served as the Coordinator of Disability Services at Carleton College and Co-Director of Academic Skill Builders, a non-profit organization providing teacher training and tutoring for struggling readers.
